The BacT/ALERT 3D system is available in a number of different modules that can be configured to provide a perfect fit no matter what your workload. Larger systems comprise a Controller module with a touch screen for text free control over the basic functions of the system. This unit can be linked to a maximum of six 240 Incubator modules, which would provide sufficient capacity for an annual workload of 84,000 bottles from a single PC. For the laboratory requiring extra space saving the Bact/alert 3d combination module combines the computer function and touch screen of a controller module with two incubator drawers. a further three incubator modules can be linked to this module. Finally the smallest Bact/alert 3d 60 can handle an annual workload of up to 3,500 bottles per annum.
The incubator modules can be configured in either a stacked or string formation. the string configurations are supplied on purpose built bench carts that have cupboards underneath which are left empty for the department to utilise. this configuration is the most user friendly as all the cells are situated conveniently for the loading and unloading of bottles. the stacked configuration has the smallest footprint of any blood culture system currently available and is ideal where floor space is at a premium.
routine use of the Bact/alert 3d system is accessed through the touch screen on the Controller/Combination Module. the software is intuitive, all tasks are easy to perform and the system is designed to minimise the possibility of users making any mistakes. this ensures that staff can rapidly be trained in day-to-day use.
